Research Interests

Dr. Ozbay's current research interests include:

	Examining age structure feeding effects of the American oyster (C. virginica) on phytoplankton community structures in the water column.
	Utilizing flow cytometry as a means of identifying, analyzing, and sorting cultured and wild marine algal species.
	Utilizing flow cytometry to identify and sort viable algal cells found in the feces and pseudofeces of the American oyster (C. virginica).

Dr. Ozbay has also developed several student projects:

	Examining the market demands of baitfish and future prospects in Delaware and Southern Maryland.
	Monitoring water quality parameters of retention ponds that are affected by highway runoff.
	Monitoring water quality parameters and mosquito larvae in man-made retention ponds in order to find potential controls to reduce mosquito abundance.

Living Marine Resources Cooperative Science Center

The mission of the Living Marine Resources Cooperative Science Center (LMRCSC) is to promote and improve opportunities for education, research and advancement for under-represented students who aspire to pursue a career in the area of marine science. It is a collaborative effort between the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) and its partner institutions: the University of Maryland Eastern Shore, Delaware State University, Hampton University, Savannah State University, the University of Maryland Center for Marine Biotechnology and the University of Miami.

Dr. Ozbay is working in cooperation with these organizations to enhance opportunities for Delaware State University students through her coursework, research projects, scholarships, internships and fellowships.
